Middle East Collection

Gemstones are believed to have unique properties. For example, turquoise is thought to provide protection and healing for the wearer. Carnelian, also represented in this collection, may increase energy and confidence and was prized for ornaments by the Ancient Egyptians.

The ancient Anasazi of Chaco Canyon and the surrounding regions are thought to have traded turquoise and fashioned turquoise ornaments. Turquoise also adorned the rulers of ancient Egypt and the Aztecs.

The Middle East Collection explores combinations of traditional motifs from the Middle East, such as amulet boxes and scarabs with turquoise and other semi-precious gemstones. The designs are accented with exotic beads in silver or vermeil (gold over sterling silver). Many of the turquoise pieces are reminiscent of the squash blossom necklaces of the American West.
