New Mexico writer Diana Kirkpatrick took a bold step and left a career as a  PhD chemist to become a silversmith and a bellydancer!

In her twenties, Kirkpatrick was a freshly minted scientist who was secretly taking forensics classes  on the side and longing to be a mystery writer.  In retirement, Kirkpatrick has turned a probing eye towards crime fiction.  Now in her 80s, Kirkpatrick is never happier than when she’s sitting at her desk killing off bad guys.

As an author, Kirkpatrick has a flare for braiding beauty and brutality.  She’s deep into creating her debut mystery novel starring her silversmith sleuth heroine and friends.  Together they form a triumvirate of a jeweler, a computer maven, and a police detective  - friends reunited in the Land of Enchantment.

Kirkpatrick says, “None of the rest of this would have happened if we hadn’t gotten that RV and headed west!!”
